OOTD| Typical

Top: H&M | Jeans: Asos | Shoes: Office | Bag: Dorothy Perkins

It's been a while hasn't it?
An overwhelming work load and a multitude of mummy demands meant that I had to take a mini blogging break.
To be honest a break was truly needed. It allowed me to reflect on my blog and really identify what it is that I want from blogging. For the first time in a long time, I'm really excited about blogging and have so many ideas to trial in the new year - starting with a new name!
As much as I like the name This and That, I don't love it. I don't want that to be the name associated with my 'brand' (if my blog was to ever take off that is). I have a few ideas for names and I intend to purchase a custom domain at the end of the month so there are very exciting times ahead!

This outfit is typical of what I've been wearing lately. A pair of jeans, a sweater, flats and a brightly coloured bag has seen me through countless errands and the school run. I'm all about being comfortable at the moment and this outfit is certainly that. My pointy leopard lace up flats are a fairly recent purchase. They were reduced in the Office sale and I just couldn't resist. They are just so chic! I kinda want them in every colour but I know that's not a good idea. Or is it? Lol.

OOTD| Denim + Boucle

For me denim and the words: weekend, freedom and relaxation are synonymous so I tend to gravitate towards the denim contents of my wardrobe when I'm not in work mode. This faux-denim-jersey-peplum dress - an oldie from George at Asda -was worn a few weekends ago for a cosy evening of food with friends.
My weekends these days are pretty low-key compared to what they looked like a few years back. The thought of club hopping and binge drinking makes my soul shiver a little; good food, great company, the board game Articulate and a bottle or two of Californian White Zinfandel is as wild as it gets for me these days. And I prefer it this way.
In keeping with the whole 'recycling my wardrobe' thing I seem to be on at the moment, I've rediscovered my love for my Nike wedged trainers (which were dashed aside a few months ago in favour of my red Converses and Vans). I'm fully aware that no one 'does' wedged trainers anymore apart from me, however I'm fully at peace with this and long may they live through me! The added boucle bomber jacket to this effortless ensemble was a sale purchase from H&M. To be honest I hated this jacket when it arrived but was too lazy to return it and became stuck with it. Nevertheless, it's a good lightweight and semi-smart layer up for the autumn.

Despite copious amounts of Lemsip and what seems like bed arrest this weekend, I'm still flu-ey as f**k! Work today was a write off and the thought of dragging my behind in tomorrow fills me with despair. But it's got to be done!
I hope you've had a better start to the week than I have.
Whatever the case, I suppose it can only get better. Right?!

OOTD| Good As New

Jumper: Dorothy Perkins | Skirt and bag: Primark | Boots: Office

It's only going to get colder I keep telling myself; so it makes sense to hold off on the faux chinchilla and 60 denier tights and enjoy bare leggedness and coatlessness whilst I still can.
Apart from the rain we've been experiencing lately, autumn is my favourite season and I've thoroughly enjoyed digging deep into the depths of my wardrobe to pull out my old faithful knitted jumpers. This silvery-grey-lavenderish knit from Dorothy Perkins has been loyal to me over the years. It's probably a good 5 years old now but still as good as new.
With this spending ban that I'm currently on, I am hoping my spending or - rather over-spending habits will change for the better. If I'm really being honest, I have far too many clothes and I don't actually get any wear out of some of them; I tend to wear the same things over again then declare that I am in need of new garments even though my closet is overflowing! I am going to be really strict on myself this time round and ensure I'm making good use of what I already own.

As you can see my A-Line skirt addiction is still going strong and this denim number from Primark was purchased shortly after the black cord one (worn here). It's just so easy and fuss-free and easily paired with pretty much everything I own. I love it!

I can't tell you how much I'm looking forward to the weekend. My throat is sore, my head is throbbing and I just need my bed. I've got the lurgies big time!

OOTD| Stripes reloaded

Co-ord: Daisy Street via Asos | Trainers: Vans via Office

Long time no wear! This two piece by Daisy Street via Asos has sat untouched since the last time I wore it here, way over a year ago!
With only 92 days till Christmas, spending frivolously is no longer an option so I'm officially on a spending ban  - once my H&M delivery arrives later this week that is lol.
Expect lots of familiar outfit posts in the coming weeks.

This knitted two-piece has been a godsend this week. With the torrential rain and sudden cold, it's done the whole 'keeping-me-warm-whilst-still-being-stylish' thing it was intended to do. I'm definitely looking forward to adding my trusty H&M biker jacket, beanie hat and chunky knit scarf to this outfit when it gets a little colder.

Work is now in full swing and the summer holiday seems like a distant memory, despite it ending only 3 weeks ago! I am incredibly busy at the moment hence the the lack of blog posts but I promise to sort my life out and get back to blogging regularly.

OOTD| Autumn Almost

Jacket: Boohoo | Vest and Skirt: Primark | Boots: H&M

Is it wrong that I want this A-Line button down skirt in every colour and fabric that it comes in?
I have a feeling this style of skirt will become my go to piece this Autumn/Winter. It's such a flattering shape on most figures and it skims right past any lumpy areas. I'm actually excited for when the cold finally kicks in so I can pair it with my usual thick black tights, bright long sleeved jersey top and ankle boots.
This black cord version was picked up in my local Primark for only a tenner! I'm hoping they bring out a variety of colours. A burgundy and navy cord version would be perfect.

It's back to work for me this week. I'm dreading tomorrow's early rise and I'm not quite sure how I'm meant to cope without my daily mid afternoon naps.

What will you be wearing this Autumn/Winter?

OOTD| Touch of Africa

Top: Africa in Spitafields Market | Jeans: Asos | Mules: New Look
I almost passed on this top from a designer at Africa in Spitafields Market back in May. Curt and cold, the designer seemed as if he couldn't be bothered to talk to me about his pretty pieces and his snappy replies to my questions made me feel as if I was bothering him.
Maybe he was having a bad day or perhaps that was just his personality, however he didn't represent his budding business in the best light. I parted with my £10 for the top as swiftly as possible and didn't bother to try and remember his or his company's name.
Nevertheless, there's no denying that this top is right up my street. I love the vibrant Ankara fabric set against a subtle grey backdrop. I really want to get my hands on more African inspired pieces and plan to start getting outfits made more regularly in traditional fabric. I'm hoping to attend the next Africa in Spitafields market next week so fingers crossed I can get my hands on a few more unique pieces with an African twist.

Can you believe it's already week 5 of the summer holidays? The back to work blues have already set in. I intend to really enjoy this last full week off with the kiddies and do as much fun 'stuff' as possible.
What are your plans for the week?
