Personal| New Year's Resolutions

It wasn't my intention to leave it till two days before the end of January to extend my New Year greetings to you all but life kinda got in the way. By life I mean a little bundle of joy who made her appearance into the world on New Years Eve, six weeks early, sending my carefully constructed blogging schedule out of the window! However, it is always better late than never so HAPPY NEW YEAR.

I rarely set New Year's resolutions due to the fact that I'm absolutely terrible at actually sticking to them, yet despite my pathetic track record, there are a few goals I would like to achieve this year.

So in no particular order, here it goes:

  1. Achieve a work-life balance - This year I wholeheartedly REFUSE to allow work to consume my life. No way. Nope, nope, nope! As a teacher it is almost impossible to leave work at work. There's the planning, marking, data collection, numerous emails to respond to etc that requires more hours than the working day. Nevertheless, it is my mission to ensure that work remains solely at work (unless there's Ofsted of course). If that means getting to work earlier and leaving later then so be it, but loading my car with exercise books on Friday afternoon or logging onto emails after dinner is a thing of the past.
  2. Be more organised - this more or less leads on from my first goal. I need to make sure I plan my days, life, mind and home more efficiently. I'm normally a 'go with the flow type of gal' which isn't necessarily a bad thing, but I need to make sure I am spending quality time on things that matter instead of faffing about wondering what I'm doing next or leaving things till the very last minute.
  3. Lose weight - I think I say this every year but I really need to be comfortable with my weight. My ideal size is a small 14 which isn't too far off what I am now, however, I have far too much jiggle in my wiggle and could do with losing a few lb's and toning up which I must must must do this year.
  4. Save Money - My bank statements last year were completely abominable! There were countless unnecessary transactions made including numerous shopping trips, eating take-away far too many times and not to mention my daily Costa Coffee trips. This has got to stop! I plan to really set myself a tight budget this year which will allow me to save and hopefully spend my pennies more wisely.
  5. Follow my dreams (career wise) - I have so many personal dreams I would like to achieve and this is the year that I really need to set the ball rolling. I won't say too much about these dreams now but I intend to start working towards making these dreams my reality, so stay tuned.
Although I would like to achieve far more than 5 things this year, the goals above are the ones that have been playing on my mind the most. Fingers crossed I achieve them all!

And last but not least...
