OOTD| Not quite smart, not quite casual

Dress: Glamorous via Asos
Jacket: Asda
Trainers: Nike via Office
Jewellery: Vintage gold
I have real issues with the dress code smart/casual.
What tends to happen (especially within my social circle) is that people gravitate towards the smarter end of the spectrum; with jeans and heels being the absolute limit on the casual end.
Well, being the little rebel that I am, I was intent on wearing trainers last night for drinks at a bar which would only apparently let you in if you followed the dress code. I tried on at least 7 different outfits before settling on this shirt-dress which adheres to the smart element of the code. Right?
I just wasn't feeling heels and my argument - if questioned - would have been that my trainers are actually wedges so there! *Sticks out tongue* Lol.
I think the red lips and updo distracted from the situation on my feet, although I didn't feel or look under-dressed and had a fabulous time.
So about the dress - It's one of the many purchases I made from ASOS at the beginning of the year. I completely forgot I even owned it till I ransacked my wardrobe. I will admit, I'm too damn old to be wearing dresses this short and will probably pair it with leggings or thick tights next time but I do love it, even more so dressed down with trainers.

I've had these trainers for over a year now and my love for them grows stronger and stronger with each wear. Yes the whole wedged trainer thing is probably so last year, but I'm not over it and have my eye on the Nike Liberty version.

And on a non-fashion related note, look at my arms. Seriously look. I've been working on my bingo wings at the gym and I'm starting to see a difference at bloody long last. I wish I could say the same about my stomach!

Mummyness| Naila's 3 month update

I still can't believe this little cherub is 3 (and a half) months now! It feels like it was only yesterday that she made her early and rather dramatic entrance into the world. Sometimes I look back at pictures from her early days and can't believe how much she has grown and developed. The last 3 months have been amazing to say the least and I can't wait see more of that cheeky personality shine through.

  • Weight
Naila was 10lbs 11oz when she was weighed at the beginning of the month which is still quite small for a 3 monther. However she was 6 weeks early, so in terms of her own personal growth she's doing really well. I know she has put on more weight since then so she's probably 11lbs plus now.

  • Size
Hooray, she finally fits into all her 0-3 months clothes and some are even becoming tight on her! She had been wearing newborn and upto 1 month items for what seemed like an eternity so she's making fabulous progress. There are a few 3-6 months bits that are starting to fit as well so in a another month or so I'm sure I'll be able to whip them all out. I've already packed all her early/tiny/premature baby gear away *wipes tears away*

  • Personality
The word diva comes to mind when I think of her personality! Although quite a smiley and jovial baby, she can scream the house down at the drop of a hat and give the dirtiest looks when she's not impressed. A bit like me to be honest! Lol

  • Loves
She loves loves loves hot baths. I often wonder whether she's actually a mermaid with her water infatuation. As much as I hate swimming and public pools, I think it's about time I took her. She also loves going out in her buggy which makes the school run a bit more bearable. Her eyes dart in all different directions as she takes in the world around her.

  • Hates
Naila cannot stand her face, particularly her nose being touched and she goes into full diva mode when this happens. Luckily she doesn't have many hates but I'm sure she won't hesitate to let anyone know if she doesn't like something!

  • Feeding
So the whole breast feeding for 6 months thing that we are advised to do didn't quite happen! However, I'm pretty pleased with myself for getting to the 3 month mark at least, cause God knows I wanted to throw in that towel weeks ago! I started her on formula at 6 weeks, initially only giving her a bottle before bed whilst breast feeding the other times, this has gradually increased and for the last week she's only been having breast if she wakes up during the night. She's currently only having 6oz of milk at the moment which is small in comparison to other babies her age, but I've been assured that it's ok as she's still putting on weight. I've also started to introduce solids into her routine which she's still getting her head around. At the moment she's having baby rice in her milk and fruit too which she loves.

  • Sleeping
Her sleeping is extremely sporadic. Some days she'll barely nap during the day and sleep throughout the night and other days it's the complete opposite! I'm hoping it'll get better once she's in her cot in her own room as she seems to be distracted in her Moses basket which is in our room.

So that's pretty much it! Look out for her 4 month update which will be up soon, since this post has been gathering dust in my drafts for weeks!

Personal| What's in my bag

The way this bag came into my possession was like a scene out of the film Confessions of a Shopaholic. It was the Boxing Day sales and I was in Zara eyeing it up in the hands of another shopper. I could tell she was undecided about the bag and watched her put it down and begin to walk away. I literally sprinted (well waddled as fast as I could) over to it and grabbed it. Realising that she wanted it after all, the lady who I had spied it with turned around and was walking back towards me glaring at the bag that was firmly placed in my hand. Now see if that was me I would have accepted defeat and gone about my business, but no, this particularly woman was furious and demanded I hand the bag to her as she had seen it first. Are you kidding bitch? was the response in my head but I smiled sweetly and told her that unfortunately I wasn't aware of this and have been after said bag for ages and I WOULD be buying it.
I was heavily pregnant at this point and I'm sure if I wasn't this woman would have caused a massive scene. Lol!
So now to the contents of my bag:

Make-up bag - I'm really loving make-up at the moment and I'm finding that I wear it most days. My make-up bag consists of my basics such as my powder, concealer, blusher, brushes and few lippies. I've also got some perfume in there and some hand cream.
Purse - I'm so in love with my purse! I got it for Christmas from the Mister and it really is the best (and most expensive) purse I've ever owned. It houses the obvious: cards, money licence etc...
Phone - I'm actually beginning to hate my iPhone 5 and doubt I'll be getting another iPhone in future. The battery life is shocking. I'm constantly charging it throughout the day. I've had to buy an external power case to get me by, hence the reason my phone looks rather chunky.
Random pen - I always need a pen and end up accidentally 'inheriting' them wherever I go. They come in so handy especially when I'm overcome with inspiration and need to jot down ideas in my notebook.
Notebook - In my bid to be more organised this year I decided to get a notebook. I note down blog ideas; to do lists, I doodle and so much more in this book. It comes everywhere with me!

I hope you've enjoyed having a nosey through my bag. xXx

OOTD| Daisies

Long time no blog!
I've been suffering from a highly contagious disease called laziness lately and despite having countless posts in my drafts, the desire to edit, perfect and press publish has been non-existent.
But I'm back and hopefully with a vengeance.

Dress: Primark
Shoes: ASOS
Jewellery: gold from way back in the day
With the sun finally deciding to grace us with its presence, I've been getting a lot of wear out of some of my favourite dresses, including this Primark number which I wore (and am still wearing) to run a few errands. I spotted it a few weeks back in my local branch and fell instantly in lust with it.

Although I love the femininity of dresses, I prefer to toughen them up a bit and these gorgeous gladiators do just that. These are a recent purchase from the ASOS sale and I must admit I've worn them every day since they arrived. They are ridiculously comfortable and surprisingly light on your feet. LOVE, LOVE, LOVE.

And in other news, my braided extensions are out (which you can see duh!) and I've been trying to experiment with my natural hair. I did attempt to do milk maid braids which didn't quite work out, but I do love this alternative version I'm rocking. I think I'm going to keep my hair extension-free for the next few weeks and see which other styles I can come up with.
Stay tuned for some hair talk on the blog in the coming days.
